A True Artist..

..Suffers for his or her work. Or is prepared to. Or so I've read somewhere.

Recently I did a couple of sketches of someone I have on facebook. I asked beforehand, but that was really only a passing courtesy, and it wasn't long before I started drawing regardless of not getting a response. Apparently the question touched a nerve with the girl's boyfriend of a year and half, who I have previously been friendly with. I was told he's very "protective" and that "it didn't go down too well". Heaven forbid that she would ever have to exercise her own discretion when interacting with other people. In hindsight I suppose it's flattering to have been considered a threat over something so minor - after all, they've only been an item for eighteen months or so, there's still a chance she could run off with someone she barely knows if not tightly tethered. I imagine the milkman has been subject to vigorous interrogation.

Anyway, I decided to do a little damage control by including him in a second sketch, with subject matter he couldn't possibly take offence to. Enjoy;

And a bonus drawing, still in progress (but struck by the usual inertia that claims pieces that need to be revisited more than a couple of times; remember that perspective drawing I started? No? Good)

Of all the warnings that you gave me
With all components in the fault

Apologies for my commentary absence! I am tempted to revisit previous posts and relay my thoughts retroactively, but such would be an amount of effort I do not think I am willing to exert (That is to say, any).

As to the pictures, I cannot help but wonder exactly how true to life the first sketch is; did this person grow up in the wild, away from society, civilization, and more to the point, scissors? Also, the space between the nose and the mouth (Is there a name for it?) is rather distracting; it somewhat resembles a tiny moustache. The second picture is nice, though.

And yes, I do indeed remember aforementioned perspective drawing! I am still eagerly awaiting its continuation, as it would be a very poor class of person who does not finish what they start.

My dear Mr- you won't mind if I coin an acronym? Jolly good. My dear POO, your comments never go unread, they're something of a mirror to my blog, like a reflection in a stagnant pool. Glad to have you back from whatever private island you were holidaying at. I hear Pen Island is lovely this time of year, but please withhold the photographs.

It's quite customary for girls to have long hair. You can pick up a girl at your local newsagent. They come in several colours and sizes. Girls have excellent reception and can be used in place of your standard television aerial.

I don't know if there is a name for that area, but if there was it would probably be used as a dirty word. In any case, these are just sketches, and require extensive cleaning and shading to reach a finished stage. Needless to say I will not get around to this until late August, 2020.

That drawing no longer pleases me, but I will begin another in its place. Keep your eyes glued to this space!

Indeed, but I feel there is a distinct line between "long" and "Rapunzel" which has been crossed. I cannot speak as to your location, but around these parts it is not common to encounter what can only be described as a wild and untamed forest nymph. Although, perhaps the point is moot; the mass on her head more closely resembles a dead animal than any kind of hair.

(I would ask you to refrain from your coined acronym, MaSkD man; it would be a great shame should you have to take a sudden leave of absence.)
